 Agave
BioSystems is a biotechnology-based small business founded
in 1998 with administrative headquarters and engineering facilities
in Austin, Texas and laboratories in Ithaca, New York. Agave
BioSystems harnesses the extreme specificity and sensitivity
of biological systems to build unique and useful nanoscale
engineered devices and systems.
Through our expertise
in micro and nanofabrication techniques, much of the work
centers on the miniaturization of lab-scale diagnostic and
analytical instrumentation. Agave BioSystems is also engaged
in a number of research projects where biological components
for sensor systems are being tailored to complement ongoing
work in the area of nanofabrication. Several of these sensors
are being developed to combat biowarfare and bioterrorists
agents, but will have broad application in the food, environmental
and medical industries. Principal funding for our research
and development activities is provided by a number of research
contracts from agencies including the Department of Defense,
the National Institutes of Health, the Environmental Protection
Agency, and NASA.
Agave BioSystems
enjoys a close collaborative relationship with Cornell University
and many of its research groups. Agave BioSystems has also
established a highly sophisticated capability with its facilities
in Ithaca, NY, Austin, TX and through business relationships
with the New York State Center for Advanced Technology in
Biotechnology, the Alliance for NanoMedical Technologies,
and the Cornell
Nanofabrication Facility. By these means, Agave
BioSystems has access to a wide range of microfabrication,
molecular biology, and biochemistry materials, equipment and
facilities. |
